गणपतीच्या नावाचा नुसता उल्लेख केल्याने नवीन चैतन्य आणि उत्साह निर्माण होतो. गणेशाच्या अनेक गोष्टी मनोरंजक, अद्भुत आणि थक्क करणाऱ्या आहेत. गणपतीच्या स्वरूपाची अनेक वैशिष्ट्येही सांगितली आहेत. लहानांपासून मोठ्यांपर्यंत सर्वांनाच गणपती हवा असतो. गणेश ही प्रेरणेची देवता तसेच बुद्धीची देवता आहे. विविध कलांचा आविष्कार करून सर्वांशी मनमोकळा संवाद साधणारी आणि प्रत्येकाला आपलेसे करणारी ही देवता. ही देवता पराक्रमी आहे पण क्रोधी नाही, तेजस्वी पण तापरहित आहे .गणपतीच्या अत्यंत प्रिय असणाऱ्या गोष्टी बाबत अधिक जाणून घेऊयात.
१.मुषक
मुषक हे गणेशाचे वाहन म्हणून प्रसिद्ध आहे. किंबहुना उंदराप्रमाणेच मोर हे देखील गणेशाचे वाहन आहे. पण गणपतीच्या मूर्तीशेजारी मूषकाची छोटी मूर्ती ठेवली जाते. किंबहुना तो तसाच ठेवणे अत्यावश्यक मानले जाते. मोर हे गणेशाचे वाहन आहे हे लक्षात घेऊन गणेशाला मोरेश्वर, मयुरेश्वर अशी वेगवेगळी नावेही दिली आहेत. तरीही गणपतीचे मुषक वाहन अधिक प्रसिद्ध आहे. आता प्रश्न असा पडतो की, महाकाय शरीर असलेला कोकरू असा उंदरावर कसा स्वार होऊ शकतो आणि गणपती पाठीवर घेऊन उंदीर कसा धावू शकतो? तथापि, मूषक गणपतीचे वाहन कसे आले याचीही एक कथा आहे
गणपतीचे वाहन उंदीर का झाले याच्या विविध कथा आहेत. एक कथा अशी आहे की क्रौच नावाचा गंधर्व इंद्रसभेत उपस्थित होता आणि चुकून वामदेवाच्या पायाला स्पर्श झाला. संतप्त झालेल्या वामदेवाने त्याला शाप दिला की तू उंदीर होशील. त्या शापानुसार क्रौंच गंधर्व उंदीर बनला आणि थेट परशरमुनींच्या आश्रमात त्या रूपाने दाखल झाला. आश्रमात जे खाण्यायोग्य होते ते त्याने खाल्ले आणि जे खाण्यायोग्य नव्हते ते कुरतडले. तो असह्य झाल्याने परशरमुनींनी श्रीगणेशाला त्याच्यापासून मुक्ती मिळावी म्हणून प्रार्थना केली.
२.दुर्वा
गणपतीला दुर्वा का अर्पण केल्या जातात याच्याशी संबंधित अनेक रंजक कथा आहेत. गणेश पुराणानुसार, एकदा सर्व देवांना भगवान कुबेरांनी आपल्या महालात जेवायला बोलावले होते. शिवाच्या कुटुंबातून गणेश जेवायला गेला. कुबेर हा संपत्तीचा स्वामी आहे; तो खूप गर्विष्ठ आणि गर्विष्ठ होता. त्याचा अहंकार मोडण्यासाठी गणेशाने त्याला धडा शिकवण्याचे ठरवले. रात्रीच्या जेवणाची सुरुवात गणपतीला विविध चविष्ट पदार्थांसह करण्यात आली. तो अन्नावर खूष होता आणि एक एक करून तो सर्व खाद्यपदार्थ संपवतो. शेवटी वाड्यात अन्न उरले नाही, गणेश अजूनही भुकेला होता. आता धनाचा देव कुबेर लाजला की तो छोट्या गणेशाची भूक भागवू शकत नाही. तो शिवाकडे धावला आणि त्याने गणेशाची भूक कशी भागवायची याची त्याला विनंती केली. गणेशाची आई, पार्वतीने त्याला मोदकांचे ताट दिले आणि त्याला गणपतीला हे सेवा करण्यास सांगितले. एकच मोदक खाल्ल्यानंतर गणेश तृप्त झाला. कुबेरला खूप लाज वाटली आणि त्याने गणेशाची क्षमा मागितली. प्रचंड प्रमाणात अन्न खाल्ल्यानंतर त्याच्या पोटात जळजळ झाली. पार्वतीने त्याला 21 दुर्वा खायला दिल्या आणि गणेशाची जळजळीपासून सुटका झाली. तेव्हापासून दुर्वा गणेशाला प्रसन्न करते. गणेश पूजनात दुर्वा अनिवार्य आहे.
३.मोदक
मोदक हा गणेशाला अर्पण केलेला खास गोड पदार्थ आहे. गणपतीला कोणताही नैवेद्य मोदकाशिवाय अपूर्ण असतो असे मानले जाते. किसलेले नारळ आणि गुळ भरलेल्या तांदळाच्या पिठापासून मोदक तयार केले जातात. असे म्हणतात की एकदा सर्व देव भार शिव आणि देवी पार्वतीला भेटायला आले आणि त्यांना दैवी मोदक दिले. ज्याने मोदक खाल्ले त्याला साहित्य, विज्ञान, कला इत्यादींचे अनंत ज्ञान प्राप्त होते. पार्वतीला हे मोदक दोन्ही पुत्रांना अर्पण करायचे होते. पण गणेश आणि कार्तिक ते वाटून घेण्यास अजिबात तयार नव्हते. पार्वती भडकली आणि म्हणाली जो भक्तीचा खरा अर्थ सिद्ध करेल आणि बुद्धी दाखवेल त्याला मोदक मिळेल. भगवान कार्तिक ताबडतोब त्याच्या वहन मोरावर चढतात आणि विविध आध्यात्मिक ठिकाणी धाव घेतात. परंतु बुद्धीचा देव गणेश त्याचे आई-वडील भगवान शिव आणि पार्वतीच्या भोवती फिरला आणि म्हणाला की कोणतेही अर्पण, उपवास किंवाविविध आध्यात्मिकठिकाणी भेट देणे हे आई-वडिलांच्या भक्ती आणि प्रेमासारखे नाही. शिव आणि पार्वती पूर्णपणे प्रभावित झाले आणि त्यांना दैवी मोदक दिले.
४. जास्वंदाचे फुल
